Putting cap space aside, there's no way he signs without a NMC - which would cause all sorts of problems for the Flames at the expansion draft. Even without Brodie and Hamonic, the Flames are fine on the blue line if they retain Forbort and Gus on cheap, low-risk deals and Valimaki doesn't run into another long-term injury. They have other, more pressing needs to be addressed and Pietrangelo would be a total luxury.

Just musing, but Colorado is the only team that seems to make sense to me from a need/opportunity/cap perspective.
