It's going to be really tough to sign him, no question, there just isn't a lot of room in the budget. The bigger problem is that the kids just aren't quite ready to take over yet.
The perfect solution would be to sign Brodie to a 1-year deal. It would be good for him as well, in the sense that he would become a free agent the following year, AFTER the expansion draft. Presumably there would be a lot more teams willing to throw money at him at that point.
I know it won't happen, but one more year at $4.65M - bump it to $5M - then let the kids take over the following year.
