In this day and age of no trade clauses and a salary cap? No way I can see them getting a better return under those circumstances.
To get a more well rounded return to fill needs and take the team in a different direction, they'd need 1 or 2 excellent players back, at least two above average players. Basically, a full 5 starting line up. To convince said excellent and above average players or waiver thier clauses? And fit under the cap? And then you have stranded Driasitsl on an island (an expensive one)!with no McDavid and have hair plugs like Kassian taking up a spot and cap room.
Given all that, and the egotistical enjoyment Lowe and Katz have of all the fawning the press around the league does over McDavid, I just don't see them letting him go at any price, even if there was a magical buyer who could provide a return the Oilers could use.
