To put those god awful black rims on an otherwise decent looking car just brings it down so much. And the difference in money to put some nicer spoked alloys on is not all that much, really.
Now if you don't have a lot of money to spend, fine, then buy a KIA and throw some steelies on it for the winter. If your car runs nice alloys in the summer, then get some decent looking rims for your winter rubber; after all, you're looking at it for 1/3 of the year...

What's wrong with black steelies? It's for winter, you're not looking to get show points.

It's cheap and gets the job done. If you happen to curb and bend the wheel(s), it'll only cost you $40-70 per wheel depending on size. Try to find some "decent" looking alloys that don't cost much more.
