What a glorious first game that was,
But as great as it was, it is now irrelevant. It's on to Game 2 of this best of 5 qualifier.
We have bad blood. we have a top line that seems to have its swagger back. We have a coach that defends his players, and we have finally turned the tables in the sense that we are no longer the bullied, but the bullies. A fun narrative, to be sure, but this series is still far from over. Now is not the time to get overconfident.
The jets response to what they believe to be a "filthy disgusting play" will be interesting. Will they target Tkachuk? Will they be able to adapt to a flames team that dominated them physically and statistically? And, while doubtful that Schiefele returns tomorrow, is there a chance he comes back at some point in this series? We will find out.
But I'll tell ya something. Hearing our goal horn and the ring of fire fill the Arena of our most hated rival is absolutely priceless. Get your rituals and your cars ready, ladies and gentlemen. It's an early one, and another TWO HUGE FRICKING POINTS UP FOR GRABS!
My own personal flames themed car. Purchased last year, she is eager to right the wrongs of last year's disappointment.
