Actually no, I take it back, it wasn't hyperbole. It was simply flat out wrong. Tkachuk was falling into the boards after almost missing Sheifele with a check. His skate came off the ice a bit as he was falling backwards, but at no time did he ever make any kind of kicking motion. None. At all. No matter how hard you try to see one. He wasn't even looking at Sheifele at the time. And it doesn't appear that his skate even made contact with Sheifele.
Sheifele turned away from a check from Tkachuk and got twisted up by the boards. Totally sucks. But try to act like an adult if you're going to post on a Flames board.

Basically that exact same play happens about 200 times a game by every player on every team. It's called checking. Was Schieffle just dodging Tkachuk or did he also hear footsteps from Hannafin who was in the area.
More common is a player being checked turns to avoid it and ends up getting hit in the numbers and the hitter gets a penalty for simple momentum. Happens often.
