No doubt, it would be amazing It would be something like Florida's run to the finals back in the days of rats on the ice. A team that caught fire at the right time but had no business being in the finals.
Even comparing to 2004 Flames, or the Sabres on their run with Hasek, I would say our current Flames have less of what it takes. No all-world goalie, and no all-world forward. Actually, even Florida with Vanbiesbrouk had a true star goalie that pulled them through.
Maybe a more believable best possible outcome is losing in the conference finals. So I guess maybe the late nineties Sens might be a better comparison for the Flames than the 96 Panthers.
Hopefully the Oilers end up like the late nineties Leafs.
