All we can do though, is wait and hope he figures it out, and also hope that guys like Bo, Biggio, Groshans and Martin make it so it doesn't really matter if he figures it out. Then if he does it will be a nice bonus...a cherry on top so to speak.
Also, I have lost all faith in Montoyo, particularly when it comes to managing the pitching staff, especially late in games. Last year he blew up Giles' arm right before the deadline by pitching him three days in a row against the Red Sox when the Jays were nowhere near contention, and the last two days were also a disaster.

You’re judging Vladdy on three games? How has he been a major disappointment? It’s not like he went 0-15 in the series. 4-14 is ok, had he gone 5-14 he’d batting off the charts. Defence was always a question mark for him. Expecting him to learn to play first in three week mini training camp is asking a lot. Not sure why they’d pick now to move him to first.
It does sound like the summer camp Vladdy showed up heavier then spring training Vladdy, so easy to question his fitness commitment now, but there’s a good chance he let himself go after spring trading was canceled and everyone thought there wouldn’t be a season.
