I've never understood this line of thinking...especially for NFL players without guaranteed contracts. Owners/organizations ruthlessly exploit their leverage all of the time. I have no problem with a human being taking advantage of their own leverage once they have earned it.
I'm no fan of Chayka, but I'm always inclined to favour the human being in these situations. No matter how great a person a manager/executive/CEO/owner may be, and no matter how great the promises they make may be, they are inherently unreliable (circumstances inevitably change); individuals need to evaluate their own circumstances and do what is best for themselves and their families.
As for the Chiarelli mention...LOL if true, but it's probably just Matheson doing him a favour.
