You can add a minimum of five (?) blue chip Seattle exempt pieces. That's crazy.

I agree with this, to an extent. If the Flames win 1st overall, I would only consider trading it for 2nd or 3rd overall ++. The reason I keep bringing up Ottawa and picks 3 and 5 is because I think they'd be crazy enough to do it. I do think that Lafreniere is really good but I don't think he's the right piece for the Flames. The Flames clearly need help down the middle, getting one of Stutzle or Byfield would be massive. If you get the first overall pick, you move to 2 or 3 and get one of those guys plus assets. If you can't make a deal with the kings or sens, you just pick one of those guys and move on.
Dream scenario would be win first overall, trade it for pick 3 and 5 and get Byfield and one of: Perfetti, Holtz, Rossi. Trade Johnny for Cozens + 8th overall and draft Askarov.
That would come out to trading Johnny and Lafreniere for: Byfield, Rossi, Cozens and Askarov...maybe even another 2nd or something. That's 4 building blocks for the franchise that would be on ELC's. Then sign Hall and work on Lucic; he considered retiring this past year, maybe you ask him to retire and offer him the same money to be a fitness coach or something.
