I was thinking about this the other day...
With thousands upon thousands of hours of digital footage of crowd and game atmosphere from every camera perspective in every NHL arena (and also from Edmonton and Winnipeg) could the broadcasters overlay an entire crowd on the empty seats in the building? They could match crowd visuals and crowd sounds to every home-team's own building.
