Well this isn't community theatre, they are professional athletes
I don't need to have an opinion on the man's personal decision and he is well within his right to do what he is doing. As a fellow human, and a player on my favorite team whose effort can never be questioned, I wish nothing but the best for him and his family.
As others have said, I don't see this having a negative impact on the ice unless the Flames make a deep run and have a rash of injuries. I don't expect we'll see him back and wouldn't be surprised if he is playing for our play-in opponent next year.
