As with any symbol that has been around for that long, (and sadly, especially ones closely tied to religion) it has been used for nefarious purposes from time to time but I would argue that it is hardly synonymous with slavery. I guess if we look hard enough we can find something bad in just about anything, but I think there are far bigger fish to fry at the moment.

How is it a bit of a stretch? It’s not even hard to look for it’s a direct connection.
It’s not synonymous with all slavery but it sure is for slavery in Louisiana.
The team is in Louisiana.
They branded human beings they deemed to be property with that exact logo to return those who ran away... to Louisiana.
This is the same property that some owners would sexually assault, impregnate, then literally sell off their own children.
The act of “branding” literally makes my stomach turn to think about.
Retire it with another symbol that’s been around a long time, the swastika.
