This was a really fun exercise and offered a chance to watch some old film and dig into the season-by-season Flames-only numbers. Thanks a lot for organizing.

My final "best player" team, which ended up fairly different than the group's.

In: Patterson, Langkow, Phaneuf, Macoun
Out: Tanguay, Otto, Regehr, Brodie

I found defence quite a bit more difficult than forwards and could easily have had 98-99 Housley, 03-04 Regehr, 14-15 Brodie, or 16-17 Hamilton in the 6/7 spots.
On forward, 06-07 Tanguay warranted serious consideration but no one else, for me.

Some line choices, e.g. McCrimmon versus Reinhart, were essentially coin flips so line swapping to be had.

91-92 Roberts / 90-91 Gilmour / 01-02 Iginla
19-20 Tkachuk / 89-90 Nieuwendyk / 90-91 Fleury
18-19 Gaudreau / 80-81 Nilsson / 88-89 Mullen
88-89 Patterson / 18-19 Monahan / 83-83 McDonald
06-07 Langkow / 87-88 Loob

88-89 MacInnis / 18-19 Giordano
87-88 Suter / 87-88 McCrimmon
82-83 Reinhart / 07-08 Phaneuf
89-90 Macoun

05-06 Kiprusoff
88-89 Vernon
83-84 Lemelin

Might dig into a "best career with the Flames" version for fun as there will be some big tenure-based changes with that.
