I guess I’m okay with this result. Phaneuf at his best was a high scoring, big hitting, Norris nominee but that can be balanced with his low IQ and unsavoury exit. Brodie may never have been as good or flashy at once but has put together a lengthy and consistently good Flames career.
Also I spent so much time pumping Phaneuf’s tires that I didn’t have a chance to say anything about Housley who I have at #8. I wish he got more support. Despite living in the shadow of the MacInnis trade and being a part of some very disappointing teams he is still 5th all time in Flames D points per game (Phaneuf is 6th, Hamilton 7th, and Gio 8th) while not being as bad in his own zone as some remember.
