Honestly. What pictures does Edmonton have of whom? In what world did they end up with this once in a lifetime Cup Finals? There are some great cities available to host. How on god's great green Earth has it come to this? 2020 has been throwing a total s***storm at us and above all else, IF there is a Stanley Cup Finals, it's all hosted in this unholy place?! I need an official explanation.
COVID cases are exploding throughout the US. Those places that aren't having problems now were the hotspots when the league was trying to narrow things down.

That pretty much eliminated 24 of the cities from being viable hosts.

Montreal is a Canadian hotspot. Ottawa's arena is in the middle of nowhere, with no quality hotels nearby for teams to stay in. BC wouldn't relax their testing and quarantine rules. Winnipeg has like 1 nice hotel and not enough room for all the teams to stay. Calgary's arena is old and doesn't have the extra dressing rooms that are needed to accommodate multiple games being played each day. There was also a large number of cases in the Calgary region when the league was identifying potential hosts (ironically, now Edmonton has more active cases than Calgary does).

Edmonton basically just hung around until all the other cities took themselves out of the running.
