The problem now is that he's proven to be a fine 3-4th liner, but his trade value is probably less than it would cost to replace him, so at this point, we might as well hold onto him.
If you can swap him plus a second small asset for someone like Anderson, moving on makes sense. If you're only getting a 3rd-4th rounder, might as well hold onto him.
