Phaneuf played 378 games over 5 seasons for the Flames, scoring 75 goals and 228 points in that time, which are impressive numbers, no doubt. He was in the running for the Norris every year he was in Calgary and finished second in 07-08.

Brodie, on the other hand, has played 634 games over 10 seasons in Calgary, twice as long as Phaneuf, putting up 48 goals and 266 points in that time, which I admit are definitely not as impressive as Phaneuf's numbers. He finished 18th in Norris voting in 14-15. What's worth noting is that Brodie was, IIRC, our number one defenseman that year in the playoffs, the only time we've made it past the first round since '04. He's been one of our top 2 defensemen since, what, 2014? And Brodie has been, by all accounts, a team player, despite being forced to play on his less comfortable side for a couple years, and a great ambassador to the city.

Say what you will about Phaneuf's play, but he was *not* a popular guy in Calgary IIRC, and his character was rumoured to be one of the reasons he was traded.

Brodie's longevity, character, and stats are all reasons why he is getting my vote. Dion was better at his peak, and if you're voting purely based on stats I totally understand why Phaneuf would get your vote, but Brodie is largely underrated here, and I believe he deserves to be recognized.
