Last post on this. The assumption Dan is experiencing a mental episode is possible, but no more likely than the mother. Keep in mind that for whatever reason none of us are privy to Dan felt this need to act.
It can be real or imagined or misinterpreted. He was reacting to a perceived threat. Just because the child is safe with the Mother shouldn't mean we should automatically react that Dan was completely wrong here or "lost it" somehow.
As I said before, it appears the Mother and him are not aligning for some time. He references not holding the baby for a long time or ever. This could be a slow burn between them, with something happening that made him feel the need to react the way he did.
Again all of us go through periods like this. What is important is we step back and listen and support. That includes not name calling or shaming a person going through a mental episode or not. That causes people to hide feelings, and in some cases violently erupt. I have seen it first hand.
Lets all hope Dan takes time to work this one out, and get back on air (if he wants) as soon as ready. Wish him the best.
