Just thought I would add that with both our children my wife had serious post-partum depression and combined with a lack of sleep led to what I would call a debilitating panic attack on more than one occasion where she just had to take off unannounced. The symptoms lasted until 3-4 months after the birth.
I was also struggling for the first 3 months after the birth with a lack of sleep and high levels of stress. I would also say that I had a very hard time thinking clearly and keeping my emotions in check. Both my wife and I are mentally stable people the rest of our entire lives, so these kinds of things can happen to even the most well put together people.
O'Toole's response is entirely rational to me, and is actually pretty well composed considering the situation. I have no idea how anyone else could find anything more sinister in those posts.
