Please remind me of how Canada performed in 2006. I tend to remember an offensively inept team that relied in large part on veteran players who Gretzky hoped would repeat 2002.

That is a really old roster with most of the players being above the age of 30 at the start of the tournament. I think that there is something to be said for bringing in young talent such as Lafreniere, especially when you look at the disaster that was 2006 and the lessons that should have been learned from that. If that is who team Canada puts together they will have a forward group that 3/4 of which is 30 years old or over. I would anticipate a player like Barzal taking a step forward and claiming a spot.
