Man, ain't that the truth, Ruth?
I was truly hopeful that America was ready for a female president after ushering in the first black president, or president of any minority racial status. Remember when Kennedy couldn't get elected because he was Catholic? Good times.
But then when I saw that America would rather have a full-on misogynist in the white house over a competent woman, I wept for gender equality because it was still so far behind race equality.
Since then, the #metoo movement has been good for leveling the playing field, even if they have gone a little over the line at times, but there's still a long way to go.
The fact that an elderly white man won the primary over several very qualified women says a lot. Nothing seriously against Biden, but I felt that there were a few ladies that ran better campaigns overall.
Outside of urban areas, America is still a patriarchy. I get the feeling that it will take a generation or two to change that.
