I did it, and on my very next interview they asked me if I was working before 2005, and I honestly told them yes. They asked why I left it out and I said that 15 years of work history should be enough of a snap shot, and I'd be more then happy to send them an extended CV, though the last 15 years of work is probably more relevant to the role they're searching for.
It puts them on the spot as they agreed to talk based on what they saw, it removes age from the discussion.
