This is the last ranking of Craig Button, just before the trade deadline this year. There are other lists, but Buttons always seem to coincide most closely with the direction Calgary goes.
I highlighted the players that have come up in discussion, and left out the Western Conference, the Ottawa Senators and players whom the other team has highlighted as being an integral part of their future. Dallas and Minnesota are the only teams that I can think of that might be a trading partner in the west, so they are interesting to look at.
The thing about NHL affiliated prospects is that they are farther along in their development, and more of a 'sure thing'.
Note that Valimaki is considered graduated, and no Flames appear on the list, while notably the Kings and Coyotes have some top end talent on the way in the division. If Gaudreau is dealt, this is a target guide.
