If you look at the other buildings around the league, this is actually a long timeline from groundbreaking to opening.
The Islanders' new arena had its groundbreaking last September and it's scheduled to open next fall, just 2 years later.
T-Mobile was less than 2 years. Rogers Place was 2.5 years. Pittsburgh and New Jersey were both right around the 2 year mark. Winnipeg and Glendale were both well under 2 years.
Little Caesars is the only one in the last 20 years that has come close to a 3 year construction period.
