Exactly, the contract was a big over payment at the time. Idiot contracts handed out by the oilers and leafs have completely broken the RFA model and inflated salaries across the board for players coming off of their ELC's. They gave up all of the leverage that RFA gives them for no real reason that I can see. The leafs are even worse because they gave up ridiculous cap hits with only 1 year of UFA, as dumb as Chiapet was at least he got the full term.
