Of those 40-45% have no ongoing issues once recovered, a small % need a short time of medical attention once released and only 1% have acute enough symptoms that will last a lifetime.
NHL players are very very unlikely to develop bad enough symptoms that it will hurt them physically after the initial illness period, and thats if they ever show any serious sickness at all.

Of course, this is all talking about a novel virus in which there is still more unknown than known. Expecting other people to take risks without full disclosure on future complications is somewhat irresponsible. To think that illness and complications from infection is set in stone from a ~6 month old human virus is somewhat silly.
