So apparently this is a thing, trying to race across the US from New York to LA in just around 26 hours. Average speeds are around 108 mph, all done on regular highways with various techniques to avoid law enforcement. With less traffic on the roads due to COVID, there has been an increase in the number of people trying to break the record.
Someone in one of my Facebook car groups posted about it. I commented that it seems incredibly dangerous and the disregard for the safety of others is mind boggling. I was pretty much unanimously ridiculed and laughed out of the group - maybe I’m just getting old, but it’s infuriating to me that there seem to be so many people cheering on these activities. If it was their families that got plowed into at 140 mph while going to work or school they probably would have a different view. Anyways, I’m probably here just looking for confirmation that the world isn’t totally bonkers.
