Atlanta police chief to resign over shooting of Rayshard Brooks Friday night.

Mr. Brooks fell asleep at the Wendy’s drive-thru. Other customers are driving around him, so the police were called. Mr Brooks failed a sobriety test and resisted arrest.

Definitely not saying he should’ve died for that. But taking a cop’s taser and then pointing it at him is not the best idea, even if you think you may need it to defend yourself against said cops. The article suggests that he took “what appeared to be a taser”; apparently they are going to look for more proof in surveillance videos after they are enhanced.

Again, I’m not saying Mr. Brooks deserved to be killed. Sleeping in a drive-through shouldn’t carry a death penalty, as the mayor states in the article. But grabbing “what appeared to be a taser” and pointing it- do not even try. He was probably scared to death. Sooooo much needs to be done!
The issue is going to be he was running away from the cops when he was shot, granted turning around as he ran and pointing the taser vaguely towards them (he was running away at full stride so not a hope he was aiming) but he was at least 20 foot or more away, again any of us do what the cop did we go to jail, no ifs ands or buts.
