Do you have sympathy for Breonna Taylor, a paramedic who was shot and killed while she was sleeping in her bed after non-uniformed officers executed a no-knock warrant at her house? Oh, and they had the wrong address. Oh, and the guy they were actually trying to arrest was already in police custody.
Do you have sympathy for Tamir Rice, a 12 year-old boy who was shot and killed while he was playing with a toy gun at a park? When the officer arrived on the scene, he started blasting
within two seconds of stopping his car, without even giving Tamir an opportunity to explain that it was just a toy and not a real gun.
The Black Lives Matter movement isn't just about George Floyd. It's also about Breonna Taylor. And Tamir Rice. And Michael Brown. And Eric Garner. And Philando Castillo. And way too many other people to name here. George Floyd's execution wasn't a one-off isolated incident of police officers straight-up murdering a person of colour. This has been going on for far too long, with far too many victims.
