I am pretty light. I amused myself with my reply, which lightened the mood even further. I usually find it funny when someone makes a thread with a specific question and the answers are for a completely different question. People then carry on with that discussion and the OP never gets his/her question answered. I'm not sure you should treat my reply so seriously, yourself.
If it was a general BC thread, Revelstoke and Ainsworth make sense. Here, the OP asked for hotels on the east side of Cranbrook and he gets replies of 400 kms north of Cranbrook and a spot that's another 200 kms past Cranbrook by going southwest and then north. It's a windy drive and you have to hope the Balfour Ferry isn't having one of it's famous 10-24 hour lineups to get to Ainsworth. I've been to Ainsworth many times. It is not worth that drive.
OP might be looking at the Fernie Stanford or the Lizard Creek, but both are Fernie. There aren't a lot of places between Cranbrook and Fernie. It might be a small Air BnB type thing, but there aren't a lot of places between Cranbrook and Fernie. He might look at Fort Steele, which is on the east of Cranbrook and has some decent places for a small town. I don't think this is the one he would have driven by, as it's slightly out of the way.
