You can say culture or unions all you want. One common thing all police protect are the rich, either Democrat or Republican. There are protests and rioting and people are supporting right now to look good. We see all the cute coporate BLM message but is anything going to change? Are the rich going to give this up or will it be more of the same. Again, all this protesting is great but it's all downtown. People aren't protesting and rioting into the suburbs where the rich are. Police is the only public service the rich need. They don't need public funded schools or hospitals. I don't see them giving that up freely. They will continue to use the police to hold the poor down.

The budget in your link is wrong, or education is covered elsewhere. Most US municipalities spend far more on education than anything else. Columbus education budget is 1.5 billion this year.

It's pretty tough to have an impactful protest in sprawling suburbs, but we've had a quite a few around here. Even one where a kkk guy tried to drive through the crowd.
