Bob Cole and Harry Neale did games two and three of the Flyers-Lightning series which was shared with TSN. Cole and Neale then did games four through six of the Sharks-Flames series. Cuthbert did games five and seven of the eastern series. The deal with the CBC/HNIC was that Cole and Neale would usually get the higher rated series. The ratings for the Sharks-Flames series exceeded what the CBC was expecting.
