In general there is simply no need for cops to be outfit or armed the way they are and their conduct over time in many cities in North America has built up to this type of escalated protest in response.
You kind of reap what you sow sometimes. So many times I have heard stories in Calgary about cops who unnecessarily escalate situations because of the approach they take. Generally speaking, the message needs to be- chill out. Relax. People will still obey your commands if you treat them with a bit more respect even in arrest situations. If you need to get firm get firm but that doesn’t mean abuse.
If you want to hold bazookas and play army man dress up- go join the army. Not a police force.
