That's why I deleted it, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Defintely the headline was created to tell Americans "Trudeau refuses to criticize Trump after trying to find the words" which I felt was a misread of how powerful and neccessary his response today was in light of the fact that you can't poke the big stupid bear because he has immense power and chooses to use it whenever he's slighted.
I mean basically everyone in Canada understood that the entirety of his answer about how we need to deal with this in Canada was a "I won't speak to their politics because I run Canada, but here's how we need to handle it here". It was strong criticism without giving quotes for the dummy to blow up over. CNN knows that but pushed the "refused to criticize" because that's better for their business of getting Trump to blow up and then reporting on it.
CNN also knows that this is the time Trump is looking for any distraction and an ally world leader criticizing him would be everything he ever dreamed of to start blathering about in the media to distract from his country's destruction.
