Very true. No matter male or female, there are some great places to meet people. It's especially great to meet someone who is participating/interested in something you are. For example, I met a lot of great people through playing organized soccer, attending photography workshops, and even university. The nice thing is you get to see a person in their true form. Glad to see someone else knows what i'm talking about.
When I was in that 18-25 age bracket I learned quickly that meeting someone from a bar /club was not the person I was interested in. Too many of the gals were not sincere or real. Then I branched out into other areas and found as you mentioned that people are genuine. Not only do they have the same interests but you don't have to deal with someone hitting on you all the time. And I agree a common interest helps to break the ice and makes conversation sooooo much easier. I also developed some great friendships that way too.
