The Ducks moved out a top young d-man today to the Coyotes.

The deal breaks down as follows:

TO COYOTES
B. Skjei
3rd (ANA) 22'

TO DUCKS
J. Oleksiak
1st (PHX) 21'

Skjei is a 6'3, 26 year old d-man that the Canes paid a 1st rounder for. He is a strong d-man with good upside. The reality is, with our Top 4 solidified in Weber, Thedore, Dahlin and Provorov, we felt Skjei and his contract was a waste at the #5 slot.

In return, we get a very reliable #5/6 dman in Oleksiak who can play lots of PK and defensive minutes, keeping our top guys healthy. We also get an important 1st rounder back into the fold. Will see how long I keep it haha.
