What TorqueDog said, but I also can't help but wonder whether or not your bookshelf speakers are being powered properly by your Logitech Z 5500 set up.

According to this you're only putting out 64 watts to the speakers. The bookshelf speakers might not be performing to their potential with that little power.

If you don't need surround, you might be better off replacing the Z 5500 with a power amp that can supply 100W to your bookshelf speakers. Something like this shouldn't cost you more than $40-80 for the power amp. You also need some way to connect to the PC such as an RCA to 3.5mm cable or something like that.

I wouldn't necessarily say that would qualify as an audiophile set up though.
