Are systems hand picked to make macs look good facts? Or is my real life experience?

I spent $399US on a Compaq with 1 gb/ram, dual core processor, 250 gb hard drive, DVD burner, 13 in 1 media reader.

I use the free software (Pinnacle movie studio) to edit high definition movies, quickly and with no problems.

Show me a comparable mac that is less than $1200.
