I really hate how gun control proponents always start off with No one Needs X gun. It’s a terrible argument, there are very few needs so it leaves one open to many counter arguments.

The argument for Gun Control should be this policy is predicted to save X lives. The loss of people’s ability to own guns is a reasonable trade to make. Then you need to show why other policies that aren’t a ban are not working.
I'm good with this, handguns are a problem, especially with gangs and other criminals because they're easy to conceal and they are effective weapons, and legal guns have been a problem when it comes to things like suicide.

Again the same issues come up, what is the government going to do to deal with cross border and port smuggling, I'd say that handguns are a bigger problem in this field then things like military assault rifles.

At the same time the talk is that the Federal Government isn't going to do a ban, they're going to leave this to the municipalities. I believe that's a bad strategy, we're going to get a mishmash of strategies across the country with confusing enforcement and regulation. On top of that you're going to pass the costs on to the municipalities and provinces in terms of legal costs and enforcement costs.

I don't have a problem with a handgun ban, or even a strong prohibition where it incredibly tough to buy a handgun as a hobby device or even a home defense device.

I have to see what the strategy is, is it a blanket federal plan, or are they going to shove it off on someone else in the name of political expediency?
