You get the impression that they "think" they would do that. When really they would just go hide, maybe not even call the cops.
It's not just gun owners (but I am focussing on that, because of the self defense, security aspects of the arguments) it's anyone, really, who would just go hide. We aren't as brave as we think we are, especially when it's someone else's property or we aren't directly being threatened.
