This was not a quick and easy trade. We were in discussions with quite a few teams.
While I scoffed at a few low ball offers thrown my way, I'm sure even more GMs left with frustration at my exuberant ask.
Yes, I am pressed for cap space. But there's plenty of time left until the season starts. And, it is Patrik Laine, after all.
We wanted a solid prospect as the main piece coming back and got that in Comtois.
The Ducks have a really nice crop of young guy and the future looks great for the 6'2" power forward.
It was obviously not easy to say goodbye to Laine but we thought this was the smartest move to make right now, with a return that made sense.
