The provincial bird, however, was most definitely a common nuisance, but even that was on the decline. Save for a final spike the year before I moved away, 2003 onward saw a dramatic decrease in mosquito trends compared to the decade prior.

My in laws are from there and i have been told the province brought in an entomologist that brought in large dragon flies.  But in fairness we were drinking a lot of Club that night.
However, the first European settlers didn't have that luxury.  I stand by my original post, after the first winter why would they stay.
