It would generate much more excitement for the draft and would give players that didn't move that wanted a shot like Joe Thornton another chance. The only downside I can see to this would be asking a player to move cities during a pandemic however i don't see that as being a huge issue as their family will move too. Or it could even be treated like a trade deadline where a soon to be UFA moves but family stays back. Either way I don't see a negative to it and a real bunch of positive publicity for the league. No matter how it plays out this season will have different rules.

Not sure many teams if any would pick up a player. They won’t know what the cap is for next year. If they don’t start up the league this summer then there will be no increase. I guess a team like Arizona with lots of cap space could make out well.
