I think that Clone Wars really redeemed George as a overall Story teller. He had this amazing vision of the GFFA, and a conclusive and pretty logic story line. Yeah there were lots of problems in the PT, a lot of those issues were more mechanical or technical then anything else.
But we saw what Star Wars was like with George Lucas not as a story teller as the ST was just a mess and a bad story that had to borrow or reboot the earlier movies and made them worse.
Filoni really needs to be given the keys to star wars and with the stories we hear about Kathleen Kennedy and her handling of the ST especially The Rise of Skywalker, she just can't be allowed to be in charge of any Disney offerings anymore.
