I believe at least 2 of these aircraft - the U2 and the A12 - were secret during the bulk of their operations as well. Both programs required civilian technical input and permissions from foreign governments (The U2s flew from Pakistan and landed in Norway). I think keeping a piece of static space junk a secret would be far easier, and not require much foreign involvement.
Still, this ain't a hill I'm gonna defend much further. I'm just curious as per why the Pentagon would acknowledge these videos, when they had no pressing reason to do so.
