I actually had a brief back and forth (respectfully) on Twitter with the Stamps awesome radio PBP guy Mark Stephen about the trade shortly after it happened, he seemed genuinely puzzled why I and most others felt that trade was poor value for CGY. I'm guessing he sees it as we moved down 2, then moved up 3, so its fine. I kept reiterating the #12 pick doesn't carry the same value as the #1 overall pick, but he didn't seem to agree..I don't know how it isn't obvious. The whole trade was just weird.
He basically said he thinks the Stamps liked Williams, but liked other guys more. And they felt their guy would still be there @ 3. Fine, but thats just poor asset management...definitely could've gotten more from B.C. than what they did. I'm thinking they worked the phones and there wasn't much interest so they took whatever they could get. Still doesn't make it right.
I really want to trust Huff as he's the magic man, but geez..
