Hardest vote for me yet

first off- Gelinas- the limited interactions that I, or my family, have had with this man and his family suggest he is a first class dude. Had arguably one of the most memorable and important 2 month stretches of any Flames player. I will cherish the memories he provided this city forever. but his tenure was too short for 23- he would have won 6 or 7 numbers already in my mind but not this one

I have given the next 2 players alot of thought . Both former first rounders who stepped right in as teenagers into the toughest league in the world. Both have their drawbacks- Reinhart a bit of a 'rover' more than a defenceman, Monahan is boring and 'not a first line center' to many

one is 7th all time in assists for the Flames, the other 7th all time in goals- both ahead of some VERY impressive players

these are both top 20 flames, IMO. Monaham will both benefit and lose out due to recency bias I think, but he BARELY gets my vote- again I realize my old guy membership may be at risk here- but his story isn't finished and his scoring numbers through 7 years are very high class for this organization

regarding Reinhart- it is a pity that they were never really all healthy at the same time but from 85-88 the Flames had 3 dynamic dmen in their early prime all home grown, the likes of which have very rarely been matched in MacInnis, Suter, Reinhart (ok sure 70s habs or something) but in recent years- Nashville comes to mind, the Sens of a certain era etc
