Not too many people appreciate what a good ball player Bill Buckner actually was and only can recall highlights of watching a softly hit ball squeaking between his legs. He had 2,715 hits in his career!
It's unfortunate because the lead in game 6 in 1986 had already been blown at the time he made his error (it was tied 5-5). There's a good chance the Sox lose it there even if he makes that play.
