When I lived in Asia it was my goal to go and see the real thing. I almost cried walking across that bridge, don't know why, other than I saw that movie ten times as a younger guy.
Also, they do not pronounce it with a hard i, as in Kwai, It is แม่น้ำแคว which is River Khwae.
